Course Terms, License, Access and Support
1. Scope
These Terms govern the provision, license to use, access, features, support and conformity of the online courses supplied by José Covas Education Academy, Lda (the “Academy”). Purchase and payment are made to Paddle, acting as authorised reseller and Merchant of Record, and are governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. By completing the transaction through Paddle, the buyer also accepts these Terms as regards the use of and access to the course. Where a mandatory consumer-protection rule conflicts with these Terms, that rule prevails.
2. Pre-launch status
While the site displays demonstration or sample content, no course is offered for sale and no payment is charged. Pages are shown for design and review only. These Terms become operative only when the paid courses are activated.
3. The product — the courses
The courses are digital content consisting of pre-recorded video lessons and, depending on the course, downloadable materials (e.g. workbooks, checklists and PDF templates). Access is online, through the Academy’s learning platform, after Paddle confirms the transaction and the student’s account is activated. Each course page identifies the content, the number and duration of the lessons, the materials included, the format, the technical requirements and the access period.
The courses provide general, methodological training and information on real-estate investment. They do not constitute personal investment, financial, legal, tax or any other advice, nor a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset or property. They are intended to teach methods, criteria and tools; the student is solely responsible for evaluating the information and for the decisions they make based on it. No particular result or return is promised or guaranteed.
On completing a course, the student may receive a certificate of completion, attesting participation and completion. It is not an official or certified professional qualification.
Access requires a device with an Internet connection, a valid email account, a current browser and the ability to play video and read PDF. No installation is required.
4. Purchase model
Each course is sold as a one-off purchase. The buyer pays once and obtains lifetime access to that course — for as long as the Academy keeps the course available online — together with any certificate of completion earned. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal: the buyer is never charged again for a course already purchased. Access is personal and non-transferable, as set out in clause 9.
5. Price, payment and commercial document
The reference price is shown on the course page. The final price, the transaction currency, the applicable taxes and the total amount payable are presented by Paddle at checkout before the purchase is completed; in case of discrepancy, the amount shown at checkout prevails. Paddle charges the payment and issues the applicable receipt or commercial document. The Academy does not receive full card details and does not issue the buyer a second invoice or receipt for the transaction.
6. Delivery, access and refunds
Access to the course is made available by the Academy after Paddle confirms the transaction, through the student’s account and/or by email. Access is granted for the lifetime of the course as described in clause 4.
You may request a refund within 14 days of your purchase. To request one, contact us at [email protected] with your purchase details. Refunds are processed by Paddle, the Merchant of Record, using the original payment method. This 14-day window is offered in addition to, and does not limit, any mandatory statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer law. The Academy provides support regarding delivery, access and conformity of the course.
7. Conformity of the content
The Academy is liable for failure to supply the course and for lack of conformity of the content within the periods and conditions imposed by applicable law. Where Decree-Law No. 84/2021 applies, liability for lack of conformity observes the statutory two-year period applicable to the digital content supplied. The buyer should contact [email protected], stating the transaction reference and describing the problem. The Academy will seek to restore conformity, restore access or, where legally due or appropriate, ask Paddle to process a price reduction or refund.
8. Support
The Academy provides support relating to the course itself — access, playback of lessons, materials and content. Questions relating to payment, tax, receipt, transaction cancellation or refund processing are handled by Paddle’s buyer support, through the links on the Paddle receipt or its support platform.
9. License and permitted use
On completion of the transaction, the buyer receives a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the course. Access may be acquired for personal use, through an individual account, or by a legal entity for its employees or collaborators, by acquiring named seats. In either case, each access is personal and non-transferable, is linked to an identified user, and the credentials may not be shared.
Video lessons are for streaming viewing. Limited quotation is permitted, with clear identification of the Academy as the source. It is not permitted to download, copy, record, resell, redistribute, publish, sublicense or make available to third parties the videos or materials, nor to use them to create a competing service, without prior written authorisation. All intellectual property rights remain with the Academy and its licensors.
10. Liability
The courses provide general information and training and do not replace professional advice tailored to the user’s specific circumstances. To the extent permitted by law, the Academy is not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liabilities or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, in particular liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, failure to supply or lack of conformity, or consumers’ mandatory rights.
11. Data protection
Personal data are processed as described in the Privacy Policy. Paddle processes buyer and payment data as an independent controller for the transaction; the Academy processes, as an independent controller, the data it receives or collects to create and manage the student’s account, give access to the course, manage the license and provide support.
12. Complaints and dispute resolution
Complaints relating to the content, provision, access, license or support of the course may be addressed to the Academy and, where applicable, submitted to the alternative dispute resolution entity, as set out on the Complaints and dispute resolution page. Questions relating to payment, tax, receipt, transaction cancellation or refund processing must be addressed to Paddle’s buyer support.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
The purchase, payment, taxes, commercial document and processing of cancellations and refunds are governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms, including their governing-law and jurisdiction rules. The relationship between the buyer and the Academy regarding the provision, license, use, access, support and conformity of the course is governed by Portuguese law. This choice does not deprive the consumer of the mandatory protections or the jurisdiction rights recognised by the applicable law of their country of habitual residence. Where the buyer acts within their professional or business activity, the courts of the Lisbon District have exclusive jurisdiction, save any mandatory rule to the contrary.

15. Changes
We may update these Terms. The version applicable to a purchase is the one in force at the time the transaction is completed, with the applicable version being recorded for each transaction.
